PALISADE, Colo. — At 32 miles with 6,000 vertical feet of descent, The Palisade Plunge has already been called one of the most iconic trails in the country. It truly is a bucket list ride and whether you’re riding the full trail from Mesa Top Trailhead or starting from Shirttail Point, Powderhorn’s Plunge Shuttle is here to make sure getting to the top is easy so you can enjoy the ride down!
The full Palisade Plunge is most suitable for advanced riders ready for technical sections of trail with significant exposure. For those of you looking for an amazing intermediate ride on the Grand Mesa without exposure to the Palisade Plunge, The Plunge to Powderhorn trail is a highly recommended alternative. The Plunge to Powderhorn makes use of an intermediate section of the Palisade Plunge, plus existing singletrack on the Grand Mesa, and ends at the base of the Powderhorn Bike Park – it’s 17 miles and 2,500 vertical feet of pure mountain biking enjoyment with spectacular views along the way. And, when you do the Plunge to Powderhorn, you end up at a great bike park where you can do hot laps with the assistance of our Flat Top Flyer high-speed chairlift. Both trails can be accessed by using the Powderhorn Plunge Shuttle.
