Wynwood Walls Provides A Unique Experience

Wynwood is located to the north of downtown Miami. It was formerly known as the seedy gallery area, but it has undergone the same improvements as other artistic neighborhoods in large cities have. It is perhaps the most dynamic part of the city, with thriving eateries and a variety of shops that welcome a wide range of people, including hipsters, artists, and families. Famous street artists’ murals, some of Miami’s best cuisine, and some of its quirkiest boutiques can all be found within a four-block radius. Wynwood has evolved into a refuge for ambitious painters, creatives, graffiti artists, and young inventors alike. This flourishing neighborhood is centered around Wynwood Walls and is only a short distance from Downtown Miami, Midtown, and the Miami Design District. Wynwood Walls, a series of enormous wall murals that span six buildings, have now evolved into a blank canvas for well-known painters from around the world. Second Saturday Art Walk is a fantastic time to explore Wynwood Walls since galleries stay open late, food trucks line the streets, and both partygoers and art lovers swarm the neighborhood.

  • Best time to visit: Every second Saturday of each month

Tour Wynwood Walls To Discover Its Artists

Over the years, Wynwood Walls has featured a variety of muralists, but only a select few have become well-known in the process. Aiko, a Japanese artist who lives in Brooklyn, gathered her closest friends from all around the world to help her finish her 2009 project using big stencils that she had manually made. Aiko most recently updated the pieces she created in 2013 for the Women on the Walls Project. Lady Pink, an Ecuadorian artist, began painting subway rails in NYC in 1979 and continued for many years. She immediately gained notoriety as the first woman to break through the male-dominated graffiti community. While Maya Hayuk is recognized for her airbrushed manicures, mandalas, and paintings of space. In addition to Wynwood Walls, her renowned outdoor murals can be seen all over the world, including on another Goldman Properties building: Houston Bowery Wall.

Her abstract paintings include aspects from her immediate environment. The Wynwood Walls also feature pieces by Avak, How&Nosm, Swoon, OS Gemoes, and other well-known artists. The Wynwood Walls were changed to provide returning guests with a secure and modern experience. It is now a hip, pedestrian-friendly outdoor museum. It also has additional facilities, a new programming schedule, and a ticketing system so that people may experience the walls in a large area. Through Wynwood Buggies, official, guided tours of the walls are provided. Each trip is led by a qualified tour ambassador. These excursions provide insight into the dynamic murals at Wynwood Walls as well as the most renowned graffiti writers and street artists in the neighborhood.
