Langdon Hall Country House, Hotel & Spa, located in Cambridge, Ontario, is a renowned luxury property that provides world-class amenities and spa treatments to its guests. With 60 luxurious guest rooms, this Relais & Chateaux property is dedicated to sustainability and reducing its waste footprint. This is why the hotel has recently announced its partnership with The Keep Refillery to launch the first hotel refillery in the province. This partnership will help Langdon Hall reduce its waste and become a leader in the hospitality industry.
The Keep Refillery will help Langdon Hall transition to a circular refilling program for all its in-room amenities. This will prevent over 2,000 plastic bottles from ending up in landfills and waterways and will significantly reduce the hotel’s waste footprint. The refilling stations will be set up for housekeeping staff to refill in-room essentials, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, shower steams, and bath bombs, without creating any waste.
“Globally, every year, the hotel industry produces an average of 289,700 tonnes of waste,” said Jacquie Rushlow, founder of The Keep Refillery. “Langdon Hall is an innovative hotel and a leader in the hospitality industry. With this latest move to become the first hotel in Ontario to have an in-house refillery they are taking meaningful action to reduce the property’s waste footprint.”
“Our clientele are smart and worldly people who want a luxury hotel experience without feeling like their impact is detrimental to the health of the environment. Langdon Hall recognizes that in order to remain at the forefront of sustainable hospitality, we need to constantly move toward offerings that are both luxurious and ecologically sound,” said Jennifer Houghton, Director of Langdon Hall Country House, Hotel & Spa. “We’ve done this with our kitchen, and now, with the help and knowledge of The Keep Refillery, we were able to seamlessly convert to a system that meets this criteria. This has resulted in a low-waste, highly elevated guest amenity experience. We know our guests will enjoy the products, and we hope to inspire other hotels to move in a similar direction.”
The products that Langdon Hall will stock from The Keep Refillery are sustainably sourced from small businesses across Canada and the United States and are all-natural, cruelty-free, and ethically made. These products have been thoroughly researched and tested to ensure their effectiveness and are part of The Keep Refillery’s closed-loop sustainability approach.
The Keep Refillery was founded in 2020 by Jacquie Rushlow and Andrew Murray with the goal of reducing single-use plastic waste. The first location of The Keep Refillery was opened in Creemore, Ontario, in the midst of the pandemic. The Keep Refillery offers a wide range of locally sourced, all-natural, organic, cruelty-free, biodegradable, and microplastic-free products for personal and home care, making it easier for people to reduce their plastic waste.
Langdon Hall Country House, Hotel & Spa’s partnership with The Keep Refillery is a major step forward in the hotel industry’s sustainability efforts. By adopting a circular refilling program for in-room amenities, Langdon Hall is reducing its waste footprint, offering guests a low-waste, elevated experience, and inspiring other hotels to follow in its footsteps. This partnership shows that it is possible to provide luxury experiences while also taking care of the environment, and sets an example for the rest of the hospitality industry to follow
